Meet the youngest and cheekiest girls (Happy Home Family, Chitwan Nepal part 2 )

Today I’d like to introduce you the three youngest and cheekiest members of the family at the Happy Home; Samikasha, Bina and Sachita. These three girls work as hard as the others, they don’t shy away from any chores. In fact they all get annoyed if you try to help them. But like all children they also love to play. I’ve had great fun with them playing chase, statues, bingo and snap, for example.

They’ve giggled and squealed with laughter whilst using the photo booth on my MacBook, in fact all the girls have, but these three in particular.

SAMIKASHA

Samikasha, is the youngest and there are a few years between her and the next girl, which means sometimes she looks a little lonely. And as a result I think she really enjoys the attention from the volunteers.  She quite often, very quietly, asks me to play with her and I’m very happy to oblige.

Whilst still young she is very responsible and loves helping out but she will never allow you to help, she is more then capable!  She washes her own clothes at the pump with the other girls, but they help to plait her hair for her and Bisanti makes sure she showers and washes.  She definitely has a cheeky streak; she very seriously inspects my washing up to make sure it is to her high standard – and rejects it when it is not!

She has been at the Happy House since she was two, her mother died when she was just two months old and her father isn’t on the scene. Her grandmother lives about three hours away and visits when she can, which isn’t that often.

Her favourite colour is pink, she has pink jacket that she loves.

She is 7 years old and her birthday is on the 10th of November.

Her favourite animal is an elephant.

She loves to play word bingo, which I brought with me and she loves particularly winning and you have to watch her to make sure she doesn’t cheat!
When she grows up she wants to be a Doctor.
Her favourite food is an apple.
Her best friend is Rasme, who she goes to school with.
Her favourite flower is a rose.
English is her best subject at school.
If she could have a super power it would be to fly.

SACHITA

Sachita has a huge amazing smile and she can be a proper cheeky monkey. I kept getting her name wrong when I was first here and you could see she was getting annoyed with me (rightly so). But now she gets me back by calling me grandmother – that is until I catch up and tickle her!

She can often to be found with a great big knife in her hand chopping up a bit of fruit. She a total chilli fiend; one afternoon (when Basanti was out) she picked a radish, chopped it up and mixed it with five chillies that she had ground into a paste and chomped her way through it. She then climbed the tree to get a grapefruit down. One of her jobs is to take the milk down the road to the shop / dairy every morning before school.

BINA

Bini comes across as a little younger than 12, there definitely feels like more then one year in difference between her and the 13 year old girls.  She can be quite reserved at times but when she smiles it lights up her whole face. And once she has relaxed with you, you get to see her cheeky side too.  She is very caring child, she really looks after the volunteers, for example, she is always getting a chair for Yvonne who is volunteering with me.  Bina can often be found in the morning and afternoon rolling the spices for Dal Baht into a paste.
